Position Overview: Director of Volunteer Services
Ontario Heroes is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Volunteer Services to lead our organization’s volunteer management efforts. This pivotal role involves overseeing the coordination of volunteer applications, conducting interviews, managing onboarding processes, assigning volunteers to projects, campaigns, and events, and cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, colleges, placement students, funders, and government entities.

Reporting directly to the CEO or interim CEO in their absence, the Director of Volunteer Services will also be responsible for managing volunteer intake processes, providing certificates and references as needed, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of volunteer services, including recruitment, training, and retention strategies.

• Conduct interviews and facilitate onboarding sessions for new volunteers.

• Assign volunteers to various projects, campaigns, and events based on their skills and interests.

• Foster relationships with stakeholders, colleges, placement students, funders, and government entities to enhance volunteer engagement and support.

• Oversee volunteer intake procedures, ensuring all necessary documentation and clearances are obtained.

• Provide certificates and references to volunteers upon completion of their service.

• Collaborate with other departments to integrate volunteer efforts into organizational initiatives effectively.

• Monitor and evaluate volunteer programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

• Prepare regular reports on volunteer activities, achievements, and impact for leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Membership in Ontario Heroes Health and Social Services is required.

• Proven experience in volunteer management or related fields.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams of volunteers.

• Knowledge of volunteer management software and tools is advantageous.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
